Thanks. I actually had already done that and they will call AA to start the 90 day challenge period when their first AA flight comes up in January.

I also told them they could parlay their CO Platinum Status into immediate United Premier Executive Status, and then turn right around and parlay that into immediate AA Platinum status (something which I checked on with AA who nicely said would be just fine with them). But this person didn't want to play that game and is going for the normal challenge.

They won't be non-elite too long at American it seems, and from my conversation with them, they feel fine having to be a "peon" for a bit of time until they've proven themselves to AA by the amount of the challenge business they give them.

Just goes to show that a previously satisfied customer will often take firm and punitive action, no matter how inconvenient and painful for them, just to make a point and not take the slap in the face from a supplier lightly. Which of course is how it often should be.
