Asian redemption provides good value!

I finally found a use for goldpoints (apart from TGIF appetizers). At least some of the newly added Asian redemption options seem like good value. I can't swear to it, but they may have lowered the number of points for some US hotels too.

The Radisson Bangkok is Tier I for 15,000 points standard. I needed one night in Bangkok in January, between Phuket and NRT. I booked the Sheraton Grand Sukumvit for a three night stay earlier in the same trip, but don't need anything particularly nice for this stay as we'll arrive in the evening and the flight out is at 6am. The tripadvisor reviews say the Radisson is a nice hotel but not handy for anything but the airport so it seemed an ideal fit.

The online system for redemption didn't seem to work, but when I called up the agent she had no trouble at all in making the booking (which to be honest was a pleasant surprise). Radisson currently have no rates below a non-refundable web special of THB 3,200 that night, which I think is about USD 80.

I'm not quite sure where I found the list of Asian tiers since the main list of redemption options, linked below, currently doesn't have a link for Asia. Maybe they added it last week and then removed it again!
