short haul flyers - who often pay alot more for their tickets - get screwed w/out the ability to qualify by segments. Alas, I will lose my status this year too - short hauls and no segment qualification finally did me in - and also Delta raising their r/t fare between FLL and MCO to some insane amount at the beginning of the year didn't help forcing a few SWA trips that would have otherwise been on DL -although probably didn't make any difference in the end.
