(FWIW, I have never seen onduty crew on a pax bus. Ever.)

However, the bus drivers, now there's another story....
If I remember correctly the pi$$ing match regarding Nigels and Cabin Crew riding on the same bus had to do with where the bus would stop first after the Nigels and Cabin Crew boarded.

The Nigels wanted to be taken to the car park first, so that they could leave LHR and be on their way home in their private cars.

The Cabin Crew wanted to be taken to the Compass Center (oh..make that Centre) first so that they could turn in their duty free receipts and other paper work. Also, many Cabin Crew live on the Continent and they then needed to make their way back to Terminal 1 to connect with flights back to their homes.

Too bad that pprune became a password protected site. Some of the postings were great reading! ^

By the way...could anyone give the history of how Flight Deck Crew came to be nicknamed "Nigels"?
