Not true. I frequently travel on AA66 DFW-LHR with a stop in London. They book me in B class and then covert to C class. I get a set in F going DFW-ORD and a J seat ORD-LHR. On AA.com it will only show the first sector seating. There are special Sabre entries that either the travel agent or AA makes to split seating.
