Wow. I had no idea this would stir up so many different feelings from the group. I fired off my letter to AA today, emphasizing I'd really enjoy the sundaes coming back b/c it's something that set AA apart from the other carriers. I'm having my parents write as well - they're both only PLT, but they fly full F fares, and probably have a better leg to stand on when requesting premium service...
