The Canadian credit card you are talking about (Royal Bank Avion Visa) does allow transfers to BA and Asia Miles, as well as AA. At the moment (and until Dec 31st) they are offering 50% bonus miles for transferring to BAEC. That brings the effective cost of a J reward on BA to 66,666 points if you have enough miles to take advantage of this.
