I just had a six night stay there. As I have lived in Helsinki in the past as well as stayed at quite a few hotels there before and after moving in and out I do consider the Scandic Continental to offer the best absolute value for HH points redemptions (only 10K points/night).
Although there are newer Scandics in Helsinki IMHO, Continental is the best one. Just few years back the Continental used to be an InterContinental and they have not dump down the rooms.
As the previous poster pointed out you will probably get an upgrade to Ambassador rooms if you are Hilton Gold/Diamond. When I inquired about a suite upgrade I was made to feel that an award stays do not get upgraded beyond the Ambassador rooms and that because I was staying for multiple nights it would be somewhat problematic too.
The breakfast is free for everybody at the Scandics so no breakfast vouchers. If you are on a paid stay you will get a €-off coupons depending of the status that you have with the Hilton. Diamonds get €17 voucher for each night they are staying at (around $20).
You can walk to the city center in about 10 - 15 minutes or take one of the trams that stop at the front of the hotel.
You can also check in to any Oneworld flight at the hotel in the morning. I don't know if it is a good idea to check in at the hotel, however, because the lady this morning seems to check the weight of the carry on too. I just overheard the conversation when checking out.
The Finnair bus that runs to the airport stops at the back side of the hotel too every 20 minutes or so and cost around €5. My taxi from the hotel to the airport was €30.
They have a small "club" with free soft drinks and some snacks open until midnight daily. If you stay at one of the Ambassador rooms you key will get programmed to get access to this as well. The club is located on the 9th floors and has a nice view of the Toolonlahti.
There are two PC's in the club and you can also hook up your own laptop. You can also print documents with the laser they have at the club.
When I stayed at the Scandic last time two years ago I had to pay something like €20 per night for the wireless Internet access. Luckily they offer it for free nowadays. You must ask for the individual access code from the reception. The code will be valid for 24 hrs so if you stay for multiple nights you must request multiple codes too.
