I stayed recently at the IC Beijing so I thought I’d post a trip report.

I arrived at the hotel on a Friday morning around 11am. My room had already been upgraded but it was not a Suite. I had mentioned on my online reservation that I preferred lounge access over a Suite. The lounge access was granted to me without question.

Once I checked in, my butler escorted me up to the room. The room was a good size and was quite nice and new.

The room even included a very large 42? inch plasma TV mounted on the wall along with a DVD player.

The Amenity was chocolates, cookies, and fruit

As a Royal Ambassador, the minibar was free – this included both drinks and snacks. There was a decent selection of drinks – about 10 liquor, 2 wine, 6 beers or so, juice, and water.

The TV had a variety of channels but took a bit of getting use to. There is a channel up and down button but it’s a little hard to find. I was using the menu at first to get to each channel. There were about 5 movie channels – HBO, Showtime, … which mostly showed older movies. There were also a few news channels (CNN was one), sports channels, and a few Chinese channels.

The elevators were quite odd and took a bit of getting use to. There are 5 elevators but 2 of them are marked "Service" – these elevators only go down to the fifth floor. Be sure to take a non-service elevator if you want to get to the first floor. Otherwise you'll have to get off at the fifth floor and take another elevator to get to the first.

The lounge is located on the 6th floor and is very nice. It had about 14 2 people tables and about another 10-14 could sit at a large rectangular shaped table/counter which had bar stools. Happy hour was from 5-8:30pm I think and included an open bar and a nice variety of appetizers. The lounge was open 24 hours and wireless internet access was free. There was a charge for internet access in the room but I didn’t notice how much it was.

The hotel is still pretty empty, although I did see the odd person from time to time. The lounge typically had about 2-6 people when I was there during happy hour.

I had a co-worker write the name and address of the hotel in Chinese for me before arriving so the taxi driver didn’t have too much difficulty finding the hotel. The hotel did give me a nice card with the name and a map. Some Flyertalkers have asked me for a copy of this so I thought I'd post it.

Here is a picture of the front with the name

I took several taxis and all of them were able to find the hotel once they saw this map.

I left on a Sunday. Checkout was smooth and no charges showed up for the minibar! Although I haven’t really stayed at any other hotels in Beijing, so I don’t have anything to compare this stay to, I had a great stay here and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
