without knowing where you are traveling (are you connecting AA>BA or BA>AA or??? and what fare/tier there is no way to make an informed suggestion.

The option of taking the HEX or Tube into town is fine tho you have to clear immigrations and then re-clear when you return to LHR. Depends on the time of day if this will take 10minutes or 45 minutes.

You do not need to post flight numbers but cities and airlines and class/tier are pretty important.
