My answer was for a slightly different question from the one you asked, my apologies.
If you want to
transfer miles then the service fee of $100 per 10,000 miles applies ( $50 per 5,000 miles thereafter).
The other option is for your family member to redeem the full amount of miles from your milage balance, (ie. redeem 35k miles from your balance). All that is required is the filing of a nomination form and the ticket is issued directly in favour of your Family member.
Subsequently, when your family member has adequate milage balance, you could redeem from that balance.
This method does not attract any form of service fees from CX.
Caution: this would not work very well if you do not want your family member to know where you are going (ie. side trip to Bangkok )
