I'd have thought this to be a no-brainer for anyone who does even a limited amount of travel to major world cities where there are ICs. ICH is basically paying you to be RA and PC Plat, since a weekend night at any IC is going to cost you more than the US$100 renewal fee. While it may be true the elite benefits are not consistent at HIs and CPs as a Plat PC, you are still earning 50% points bonus on all your stays. And at ICs, you get a further 1K RA bonus, in addition to suite upgrades [or Club when not upgraded to a suite with my experience]. And those bottles of wine, and free minibar, movie and other amenities.

I am sure you'll find a few folks here who would be willing to pay your renewal fee in exchange for the RA referral certificate you'll get...
