Fares on many international routes this far out are the standard V or H fare, and thus higher than what will become available closer to travel time. AC will likely have "seat sales" for this period by next Easter, and fares will likely drop to the L and Q level, which would be in the $1200 range, possibly lower.
As noted, volume of traffic also dictates fares, which is why LHR, CDG and FRA are much lower for a comparable distance. AC does very well on this route, demonstrated by the change to an A340 from a B763, so they are filling seats.
However, it is far too early to book your travel to take advantage of low fares, at least on AC. I'd wait until spring. If you insist in booking earlier, then your alternatives would be UA or CO, possibly AA and DL.
