Pick up a cheap YYC-LAX-YYC leg on AC (sometimes you can get them for as little as $300 taxes in), and pick up a roundtrip on AA (American Airlines, www.aa.com) ex-LAX to your destination in Brazil.

Shouldn't run you any more than around $1400 if you wanted to go in the next month or two.

As far as June, 2006 goes, it is pretty early to be booking, especially since tickets booked this early usually are not seat-sale fares. I would advise waiting until into the new year before booking.
