Stayed at the Venetian earlier this year... can't put my finger on why exactly, but it was a bit of a disappointment. The room was a good size, it was the first time I ever actually enjoyed the service at a hotel (all the staff were absolutely charming), but... there was something not quite right about the furnishings - like the ones you get in those showcase houses for real estate companies at temporary trade fairs.

It was a relief to go to the golden nugget aferwards - everything seemed more solid and real there (I actually preferred it !)
