As a contrary point, I used to use my Citibank card overseas quite a bit, and hever had a single problem. I now use the Starwood Amex overseas (the reasons are several, but there is absolutely no reason to use the Citibank card overseas as the Amex has advantages in every area I can think of), so I only have a little recent overseas experience with the Citi card...but still no problems.

Overall, though, I think this is a Citibak issue, and not AA. May be better in the credit card area of FT.
