Me, too! What I want to say is:
"Oh, no! I can't let you do that. I wouldn't want you to get in trouble or anything. Please, let me talk to your supervisor and I'll see if I can work this out according to the rules."
But what I end up saying is:
"Oh, okay. Thanks."
