As for ba.con making sense, if they did that and made it easy to use, you would save money! have you tried AA.con instead?

As for price promise, you could then send in a price promise claim and a claim for the missing miles by not being able to purchase on ba.con with an Amex card.

Not sure about the common rated part but I think the fare rules allow you to combine one-ways to make a return.

aa.com is pricing out at exactly £6 less than Opodo.
