While Kiwi Flyer is correct in that Kris Flyer won't let you go into overdraft to claim the upgrade, they will, (at least they have for me) allow you to request the upgrade and waitlist this pending the earn of sufficient air miles. I suggest you discuss this with your local SQ contact.
Sorry both myself and partner are SQ Elite Gold, perhaps I could waitlist the flights until January when I will have achieved my mileage. I worked through the calculations before and after my trip to HKG I should be OK.
Secondly, If I get a RTW ticket can I upgrade? and secondly do you collect mileage for this ticket?
