A tenative maybe depending on the cruise line, destinations, and company. We didn't have a very enjoyable experience last time we tried that method of travel -- not enough freedom for our general traveling habits (like finding the 24hr Carl's Jr in PSP). We may also have difficulty in getting sufficient vacation time the longer the trip gets.
