Pending or without lifting of restrictions on flights into and out of Love Field (Wright Amendment)...
How fast could Southwest do a turnaround at an intermediate stop if there are boarding passengers and no alighting passengers, or if there are alighting passengers and no boarding passengers?
With a fast turnaround, Southwest could originate flights with 56 people aboard at Love Field, make a "flag stop" at a nearby airport and pick up more people, then continue on to a further destination. Returning to Love Field the plane would make an intermediate stop just to drop off people with at most 56 remaining on board.
With a fast turnaround and essentially a guarantee that no plane change is needed, these one stop flights could be almost as attractive as non-stops.
Among other things there would be no cleaning of the plane and no loading or offloading of food at the flag stop.
