This summer I used 100,000 miles to upgrade my Y ticket for raffles calls from MAN to AKL and return. I was hoping to do the same again this year. However, I don't have enough KF miles at the moment, about 85,000 but will have by July next year! If I book a Y class ticket now, the fares are on the system can I book my Raffles class upgrade even though I dont have the miles yet?

My other flights to SIN and HKG are on the system so Sq knows that I will be flying and therefore collect the mileage. I think that they didn't take my miles from my account until ticketing - early July ( when I will have enough miles).

I did read that you could "buy " miles at $40 per 1000 miles. Having looked at Raffles prices for this journey £3500 + then this could be a option?

Companion awards would be another possibility but I don't think that you get the *G miles to the KF account as you do with the upgrade award tickets, albiet for Y miles only.

Finally, my other option is to just buy a seat - but as it is me that pays: are there deals on SQ C class? if so where can I find them?
