Arrival Date: 20th August 2005
Departure Date: 21st August 2005
Room type booked: Standard (got Business Room)
Rate Plan: Globaly Advantage
Room Number: 1803
Room Rate: 112.00 EUR (including breakfast for two) / night
Status of Guest Program: Gold/ Ambassador
I got a room on the 18th floor, the highest No-Executive Floor with view to the city of Frankfurt with its skyscrapers.
A cupboard in the floor, opposite the entry to the middle seized bathroom with tube, washbasin and toilet. The bathroom was renovated as the whole room was. A nice feature was the heated mirror. Bathroom amenities are for two persons as the number of towels were. Two bathrobes were also available. Towels were changed and Amenities refilled during turndown service in the evening.
The room was midsize with a connection door to room 1801, unfortunately this means you could hear voices from this room, especially as the person staying there got some calls during the night.
On one side was a working desk with LAN connection (modem and high-speed) and a Telefax (a HP All-in-one Printer). The working desk was large enough for work and sockets were also available. A small table with lounge chair were place in front of the window and finally a Grand Lit.
A large bar with an automatic system for billing and tea and coffee facilities. This facilities was an coffee machine, which was not the best way if you prefer tee and the pads for this system were also not available.
The Ambassador gift which was delivered later on together with the bottle of water was some sort of “chair” for your mobile.
Check Out was fast and efficient, the bill was sent to my room in the evening, so I could have used the express Check out if I was short of time. During check out I was asked, if everything was okay.
My overall impression for this stay (my last stay was before the renovation in the mid 90ies) is very good. Although I would have preferred a pool, the hotel itself is nice and the staff is friendly and helpful. The fitness facilities are big and the equipment is modern. The interior of the rooms are good, although I would avoid a room with a connecting door due to possible noise.

There are not two additional reports from August 2007 and December 2007

Holiday-Inn Frankfurt Airport North
Arrival Date: 10th July 2005
Departure Date: 11th July 2005
Room type booked: Standard
Rate Plan: June Online Sale (Special Rate 10th Anniversary Online Booking)
Room Number: 103
Room Rate: 33.00 EUR
Status of Guest Program: Gold
I stayed in this hotel several times, but I did not report any stay.
This time my room was near the elevator on the first floor, but this means a little bit noisy during the night due to the guest passing the door of my room; the other single room on the higher floors ae smaller but far away from the elevator and therefore more calm.
This time I got a double, which was nice and bigger than the single room I got on my prior stay as Base member of PC. Nice, you do not have to place you key card in the power switch as there is card placed, it seems this is not only a temporary solution.
After entering the room, there is the entry to the bathroom with toilet, washbasin and bath, The bathroom is quite big, but this time the shower curtain was old and had some stains on it.
Opposite the bed was a working desk with socket and the minibar right hand side. Tea and coffee facilities were also placed in the room. As the room was facing the garden. In front of the window was a lounge char and a table. The nose of the beer garden was okay, I was not disturbed by it.
The TV screen was right hand side of the working desk.

Holiday-Inn Frankfurt City South Conference Center
Arrival Date: 8th July 2005
Departure Date: 10th July 2005
Room type booked: Executive
Rate Plan: June Online Sale (Special Rate 10th Anniversary Online Booking)
Room Number: 2305
Room Rate: 49.00 EUR
Status of Guest Program: Gold
I stayed there this time for two nights and booked the room during the promotion 10 years Online Sale for a rate of 49.00 EUR without breakfast.
Check in was again efficient, but this time the staff was answering a call but finished it after some seconds; the first time I noticed such an incident in this hotel.
After entering the rooms one has to put the key card in the central switch for the lights. This time I got a corner room with a small balcony facing the Frankfurt skyline. The most magnificent view I ever had in this hotel.
In the floor is the entry to the bathroom with bath, sunk and toilet. The label of the bathrooms amenities was again “Pierre Cardin”. This bathroom was again renovated but a little bit smaller than in the other rooms.
The room was bigger than the other Executive rooms I have on prior stays . It was built in L shape with the cupboard in on corner of the room. A double bed and TV screen was on a small board on the right side of the wall, while the working desk was placed opposite the bed. Tea and coffee facilities are placed on the working desk and a socket was also available, but no pull out table this time, the space to work was big enough, so no reason to worry.
I got on all my last stays in this hotel an upgrade to an Executive Room, also I only booked a Deluxe. As there is no better categorie (there are at least one suites, but I think it is not possible to get an upgrade to
this room)
On the table aside the lounge chair was placed the Executive Room Gift, two bottles of water, one bottle of Grapefruit juice and some Haribo confect.
A turndown service was offered, this time no confect from Haribo, it was another label I forgot.

Express by Holiday-Inn Frankfurt Messe
Arrival Date: 19th August 2005
Departure Date: 20th August 2005
Room type booked: Standard
Rate Plan: 3 Day Advance Booking
Room Number: 214
Room Rate: 63.00 EUR (including breakfast / night)
Status of Guest Program: Gold
It is an typical room of an Express by Holiday-Inn, a room with a double and a couch with a working desk. The phone had data port.
The bathroom has a toilet, sunk and a shower.
Tea and coffee facilities were available, but there were one empty coffee stick and an empty tea bag wrapping. Also one of the cups was used. Housekeeping seems to oversee this.
The room was in a really worse condition. A big coffee stain on the carpet and several damages on the wall as a wall socket, which was loose are very surprising in a hotel, which opened only a few month ago. The coffee stain in the carpet seems not to be cleaned with “carpet cleaning”. The stains at the wall could have been also cleaned easily and I do not understand, why housekeeping had not mentioned this to the management of the hotel. I told this the staff at check out and they told me no one had informed them. Seems to be a lack of communication. Housekeeping seems not to be the best; I told them to get another clean cup and headed to the rooms of my parents. Coming back several minutes later, the door to my room was wide open and no one inside but the cup was gone. I entered the rooms but let the door opened and waited. Some minutes later housekeeping returned and I asked why on earth they let the door wide open? She looked at me with big eyes as if I looked like an alien... (Sorry no pictures of the damages in the room)
My overall impression is not the best. The location is not so nice, but if you arrive by car is okay. You also reach the city centre of Frankfurt easily but Trade fair is more fare away. You get a hotel near the city for a reasonable price, but I will prefer the Holiday-Inn City South for further stays, though they are in a bigger distance to Frankfurt’s places of interest, but they are less expensive. A rate for 30.00 EUR in this hotel is possible, the cheapest rate at the Express I saw was 58.00 EUR. Okay, breakfast is included. I will stay there again only if I am not able to get a better rate in any other of my favourite hotel chains.

Express by Holiday-Inn Frankfurt Airport
Arrival Date: 14th October 2004
Departure Date: 15th October 2004
Room type booked: Standard
Rate Plan: Smart Breaks
Room Number: 114
Room Rate: 59.00 EUR (+ 5 EUR for Airport Shuttle)
Status of Guest Program: Base / Blue
I had a room facing to the parking lot, not a nice view, but as I arrived in the dark and leave in the dark this was nothing to worry about. The telephone has a data port and there was a small working desk and a couch, which I think could be used as a bed. Tea and coffee facilities were available, but of cheaper quality. You could easy burn your hand by filling hot water in a cup, to sum up a typical Express by Holiday-Inn Room.
The bathroom is normal; it had a shower cabin with a curtain and a toilette. The sunk was in the corner, and the place beside of it somehow small.
The hairdryer was placed in the room, which I dislike.
A nice hotel, the location is okay and especially if the HI Ariport North is more expensive I will stay here again; if I got a room in the Airport North I will prefer this hotel as the shuttle is included. The driving distance might also be a a bit longer to the Express than to the Aiprort North.
The picture reports of the stays could be read here.
I hope I gave you an impression of the hotels and help to decide which is the best hotel for you – I know there are some threads about the properties, but I thought a thread about the City and Airport Hotels in one thread might be an excuse to open a new thread
