dang, i have been flying this route almost every week for the past 3 months on both ua and oz and haven't recieved an op ups (y->c) as a 1k. i did recieve to op ups (c->f) when i bought discount biz fares (only $25 more than the full fare econ, which was all that was available as it was a holiday weekend and the flights were oversold)... 2 of the 4 biz flights were op-uped to first... but so far no y->c op ups... keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow also, i think i prefer the oz flights even without row 17 on ua or econ plus. the recline on ua is so much less than the asian carriers and i have a much harder time sleeping on the ua flight because of the more upright position. i am not so concerned about the legroom as i am only around 5 foot 11...
