Hm, I think you're trying to say that in a poor country, you may be able to "meet" a guy who is really out of your league, looks/age-wise, because you're able to offer them something they don't have (money).
Now, if this hypothetical Canadian or whatever is also out of your league, looks/age-wise, and you assume that because he lives in the first world he's not after your money--maybe you should worry why he would be interested in you at all.
It's not about the country you're in, so much as the setting you're in. Relationships, straight and gay, all over the world are influenced by economic factors.
