Still a patchwork. I had a friend who was a wine sales rep and lived in the north end of Lake Tahoe with most of her clients were at the south end. That was all in California but she had to cross in and out of Nevada to get there (much more tedious getting there staying in California). She had to be very careful not to catch the attention of the Nevada police while carrying her wares.
Can't imagine Ontario authorities on the bridge checking what you bring back from Gatineau!
When there was no interprovincial free trade in beer, I heard the R.C.M.P. used to check cars comign back from Alberta to B.C. whenever there was a brewery strike in B.C.
