"Only middle seats available" but loads of alternatives on boarding!!!!
had an interesting (read: frustrating) episode this morning on the LHR-WAW flight. (booked yesterday and had a hassle with the tickets not being paid for by corporate travel agent but thats a different story)
Checked in at the BMI (lot) desk, and the girl looked at the terminal, frowned and said, "I am afraid I can only give you a middle seat, there are no aisle or window seats left but I will move you from your current seat closer to the front". I said fine, and took the BP, 7B, fair enough, close to the front to enable a quick getaway.
On boarding, and after the doors had been closed, I happened to glance around at the rest of the cabin, and bloody hell, there were more empty seats than filled ones, granted almost all middle seats were empty (I counted 3 others in the same boat as myself, but I was one row in front of an exit row and there was one guy in the entire row - he had ABCDEF to himself!
There were so many empty seats it did not look like a trim issue, as all the others were sporadically allocated.
Anyone experienced this before? (and any ideas how to avoid it in future?)
(quick getaway didn't happen as we had to all get on a bus anway) but I was slightly annoyed at the bulk of seats available and then ending up sitting in the middle of a B735
