1. I currently hold Silver Elite status with KL/AF. Is it worth trying to get CX to status match me? To whom should I direct this request?
2. I'm arriving in HKG at 07:50 in the morning, but my plane to PER leaves at 23:55. In other words: I have a full day in Hong Kong. Will I be able to leave the airport and check out the city (when I am in transit)?
3. Is there any chance whatsoever to get an upgrade? (for example by telling them I am willing to change loyalties (which I am, KL/AF is unbearable))?
4. I understand that if I enroll with Asia Miles, I can check in online and choose my seat. Any seat recommendations in Y for the A340 and A330?

Hi ,
I've been flying KL Royal Class, Business Class , and WBC for the past 22 years (since I was an infant) between LOS-AMS-HKG , and LOS-AMS-YYZ and can easily tell the difference between CX and KL on all aspects. I started flying more frequently on CX in addition to my usual trips on KLM since 2000 so I'm was able to easily compare. There is also lots of difference between the two FF programs. Royal Wing used to be worth something until later years when even Platinum Elite didn't mean much. Anyway, regarding your questions .......
1. NO. AF/KL Silver is worthless. Doesn't mean anything to CX.
2. Enjoy your stay in HK ! Have a nice lunch and look around the city.
3. NO CHANCE. Again, you can tell them all you want, the ground staff can't do anything about it. Even Diamonds, Golds and Silvers don't get upgrades all the time.
Hope this helps. Enjoy your trip nontheless.
