I think it’s a lot smarter giving more tier bonus to loyal customers than giving a s***load of points to the occasional C traveler.
Is the intention to create an elite circle that is difficult to get in - and to drop out from? The proposed change would make it much more difficult to reach the gold level first time, and considerably easier to stay there.
For example, consider all C-class flights to reach/maintain status (S25,000/G55,000). From 0 to S 25,000/1.5=16,667; from S to G 30,000/(1.5*1.15)=17,391; total 34,058 miles. Maintain gold 55,000/(1.5*2)=18,333 miles.
Or did I get something wrong? I could not find the new suggested tier boni in the original post.
For me at the moment, the 200% C points is one of the few reasons to stay with EB. I'm flying a lot between Finland and Asia as well as intra-Asia, and prefer TG and SQ service, so I would have switched to their FFPs without this. I also doubt SK has much eagerness to change the class earnings radically, as in Nordic countries C-class flying seems much less "standard practice" than in America, or especially in Asia, so they need to keep some extra incentives for that. I may be wrong, but I'm just ponting this out as you say in beginning that
"Our viewpoint has been to propose reasonable changes - and not ask for everything for everyone".
