TATP is overrated. Yes, it's easy to make. Yes, it's a quick detonator. It's also very unstable. In other words, it's a lot like lighting a short fuse in the middle of a rainstorm. It'll work, but you have to stay on top of it to make sure it detonates. It would be effective in self-detonation at a crowded checkpoint. It wouldn't for actually getting aboard a plane. Even if successfully smuggled aboard, it would dry up and lose its potency.

I am not afraid. The odds that terrorists will injure any one person in the U.S. are infinitesimal. I am aggravated and saddened that the U.S. government is wasting so many of our tax dollars on an agency that abridges Americans' rights on such a dog and pony show while leaving so many glaring holes wide open.
