I went through the process last January. I earned 17,000 miles through the "initial consultation" and then the purchase of services which was only $400.

For each of the miles awards (10,000 and 7,000 ; promo offers for Medallion members) there were individual certificates which I had received in the mail. However, they are downloadable from the advisor's website as I was informed when I thought I had lost one.

My miles posted about three weeks after the consultation and then the purchase.

I have been quite happy and have earned the $400 back multiple times since then. We met numerous times and the advisor was able to maximize some strategies which were needed as I have a daughter that just started at a college to the tune of 45k/yr.

I would not hesitate to recommend Ameriprise but each advisor is different and YMMV.
