As ricktoronto said, your best "trick" is to book in class B ($1365 r/t MIA-MVD plus fees), which is upgradable for 10K miles each way and no copays. Of course, that's if and only if there is still any C inventory handy. I noticed there is C1 on the 15th...ymmv
Unfortunately the company already paid for the ticket $1365 is about $650 more than they paid for that part of my ticket. I will keep an eye on the seat map. My trip actually does not originate or terminate in Miami... there are more legs to it than that actually. On the plus side I noticed on my leg from MIA to DFW I am once again on a 777 in coach... but I am in a business class seat, you all probably already know this but apparently the business class cabin is part of coach on this route. How exciting!
