I successfully used the standby feature the other week: Waited until 4am to check in for my PM flight out of PHX-- gave the option to standby for the 6:50am MSP connection, and when I accepted, it displayed boarding passes for my confirmed PM flights, plus "security documents" with the standby flights listed-- all of which were set to be printed. A quick call to Res. confirmed that I was on the standby list-- and #1 due to status. As things worked out, I was still #1 on the list for a flight booked 12 over, and as I sauntered up to the gate 25 min. before departure, I heard my name paged with one other, I collected my boarding pass and I boarded. ^ ^
