How does DC compare to AmEx from a service perspective?
I have been an AmEx cardholder for almost 10 years, and always found their service to be nothing short of outstanding. However, the loss of Marriott from the Membership Rewards program last year, and rumors that US Airways will drop out at the end of this year, has led me to question whether I need to seek another option. With this change, AmEx will not offer rewards in any of the three main airlines/hotels I use (US Airways, Northwest, and Marriott).
Looking at DC, it seems like they have an excellent rewards program. What I am more interested in though is hearing some opinions about the level of service that DC offers. I don't know much about DC (and if it wasn't for the Mastercard thing it wouldn't be an option), but I've always viewed AmEx as the 'gold standard' so to speak...that if you had a dispute with a merchant, for example, that AmEx would back you up without question.
I'd be interested in hearing opinions on where DC ranks from a service perspective - it's quite clear that they have a lot to offer from a points perspective. Thanks much!
