This seemed to happen earlier and earlier on my last few flights, so I went and bought a pair of the Bose headsets.

Haven't been told to take them off during landing, but I've taken to the practice of keeping the right earpiece (with the light on it) away from the aisle so the FAs can't see that there is an electrical device on.
