Staying at B&Bs in England is a notoriously risky business. Better to use the Travelodge or Premier Inn chain of motels, which are excellent value for money and can be booked on line.
We did take more risks (aesthetic ones, not physical ones) than usual,
as we didn't really know where we'd be ending up each night except
for the second-to-last one in the country. Believe me, I'm more happy
knowing I'll be in a clean and comfy bed each night, but this was a
sort of adventure trip spurred on by the fact that my usual London
room was unavailable.
