I've received multiple NW bonus opportunities that are combinable, so for flying LAX-LAS I will get 10,000 bonus miles, halfway to silver for next year (only 2 flights needed total) and I get other points for the extreme miles promo and the regular 1500 miles for flying. Not bad for under $99.

For my second flight (not yet booked,) I will get another 10,000 bonus miles and get silver elite to February 2007.
