Perhaps there should be a synapse level barrier to Flyertalk
The last 742 I flew WBC on NWA to/fom AMS was in late Sept 03
I also saw where a 742 substituted for a DC10 back in July of 05.
Granted the 742s are no longer on regular schedule from U.S. across Atlantic or US across pacicifc, so the chances of a 742 upstairs are slim unless you can by chance find one that is being moved around the system or being used to fill-in for another A/C. The NRT-GUM (was being done by 744 lately) and NRT-SPN I believe that now NRT-LAX has gone 744 are the only scheduled 742s left. Not sure if NRT-GUM has gone back to 742 after the A/C repairs.
As others have posted, you can also catch a 74M or 744 via KLM from ORD, JFK?, LAX (I believe Canada are no longer 74xs unles YVR is still 74x).
Also across the Atlantic, check out AF, not sure if they are doing 74x across the pond except for LAX.
Otherwise as others have indicated, check out MH or KE for 74x service for redemption of WP miles.
Good luck - H
