We had to go down to MCO last weekend to see my first grandchild. I booked it BUF-DTW-MCO-MCO-DTW-BUF, because that's the only way to get there.
I'm a Gold, my wife is a comp Silver from Marriott. I split the PNR's but it got screwed up, and I had to sweet talk the GA at every station. It worked, because we got upgraded every leg.
The BUF-DTW leg was pretty uneventful, but I was surprised as hell to get served a hot meal to and from MCO! It was actually pretty good, and I ate everything on the plate. It was a
lot of food, and we were both filled up.
I had thought that NW (and probably all the other majors, as well) had eliminated anything besides Spinzels on flights other than trans cons? How long has this been going on? And how long is it likely to last?
BTW, on the MCO-DTW leg, we had one of the world's
best FAs! It was obvious she had been in the game a long time, and she was definitely old school. Never sat down once -- constantly cruising the front cabin, refilling wine glasses, the whole bit. My wife had just gotten her u/g 30 minutes before boarding, and of course the FA addressed her by name!
I made it a point to compliment her as we were deboarding.
If this is the "old school". I want a lot more of it!
