An interesting thread, I was thinking earlier today about how CO's policy is encouraging unethical behavior by employees.

You're wrong. I bill my clients for travel and can't imagine the ethical problems associated with selecting a higher airfare to get status. I always get the lowest fare (in reasonable proximity to the date/time needed) and fly on the airline of my choice (AA). Sometimes, I have to route a little out of the way to get the fare.

The hotel issue is more interesting. I don't stay at the Motel 6 even though I could. On the other hand, I will stay at Courtyard's unless I get get a comparable fare at the Marriott.
