Been down this road before....

I was on a flight from IAH-EWR, where my EUA cleared 5 days before. I checked in 90 mintues before at the gate 30 mins before; boarded, sat in seat for 20 minutes, until I was asked to leave because the equipment changed (after I checked in) from a 777 to a 764.

They redid the first class upgrades and I came up short (q fare I think). However, they still let me board the plane with the FC boarding pass. I made a fuss; I asked for compensation. They refused saying that I actually purchased a coach ticket (duh!) and that I was an upgraded passenger not a full fare passenger.

I made such a fuss (to my own embarassment) that they got the supervisor for this section of Term C on the plane to offer me a free one pass upgrade. I agreed to move to coach if they offered me the upgrade cert.

One month later no upgrade cert. I emailed Kellner. Kellner responded in 3 hours. His staff contacted the supervisor about the upgrade where he claimed he did it; so since I never received it they sent me another one which I received (first one never came).

So it HAS happened before. However, I don't know if my situation the person was a full fare or not. I know he was a plat (like me).

My issue is that why on earth would they issue a NEW boarding pass when someone with the seat assignment is already boarded? That was my issue to Kellner (after the cust service issue) was the operational issue.

My advice is to email Gordon or Kellner directly and tell them your situation and ask for an explanation.
