Thanks for the information. Actually I have a B fare and the additional $900 is to get a K fare which will put me on the wait list. That is a non-starter. If they want the $900 I want a confirmed upgrade. Otherwise no additional revenue from me.

I guess if I were to upgrade in 2004, I would then have to pay a $400 non-refundable service fee too.

And on top of all this they want my miles too.

I might as well sit in the back of the plane my next trip on a OneWorld or the Star Alliance member with a low fare.

I travel almost 100,000 miles per year to enjoy myself and do it all on CO/NW to maintain status, but apparently in their minds I am low status so why give them my business.

Further, if I do buy a C Fare on a business trip to Asia and I am no longer tied to CO/NW, I guess I will just fly Singapore or another airline that will put me in CustomerFirst Class as opposed to COmmodityClass.
