If I am not reading you clear, forgive me.

It reads like you have already purchased a K fare. Has it been upgraded already? If you own the ticket, you are protected and will not be affected by the surcharge even though travel is in 2004.

However, and I just had this clarified via email by the OPSC, if you change the itinerary in 2004 and have to re-issue and re-validate, you essentially lose the K fare rules that you purchased under. If you do re-schedule, you will have to re-deposit (and incur a re-depositing fee, based on status, which would not affect you as you appear to be Platinum), and then re-issue.

Then, after all of that, you have to find a K fare (if you still want to upgrade), and pay the appropriate surcharges.
