Here's another letter to consider writing:
To JP Morgan / Chase
Dear sir or madam,
It is with regret that I send you my cut-up Chase / One-Pass Visa card. The One-Pass miles you give with purchases no longer represent a worthwhile value.
You may or may not be aware that Continental Airlines has always had a poor track record of allowing One Pass members to redeem these miles for awards, and more often than not forces their members to use double the miles necessary for “easy pass” awards.
Now, Continental has further devalued the One Pass program by limiting the “elite qualifying” miles and segments on their most commonly purchased fares. As a result, anyone who chooses to fly Continental will receive less value for their patronage than they would on all other major airlines (except for one – Delta. Curiously, the Department of Justice was concerned that the joint venture of Continental and Delta would lead to just such a collusion on behalf of the participants. I suspect that they will be taking action on this issue in the near future.)
Please refund to me the pro-rated amount of the annual fee I paid to hold this card.
In conclusion, I would suggest that the deceptive customer practices of Continental in combination with the likely future action of the DOJ make them a poor choice of business partner for as prestigious a firm as yours. I would hope you seriously reconsider your relationship with Continental airlines lest their tarnish effect your ability to attract and/or retain customers within your other investment and banking divisions.
Sincerely,
XXXXXXX
