Internet censorship in China
Slightly off the current Off Topic, but...
G&M is reporting the Chinese government is once more cracking down on internet content. The article refers more to accessing internal Chinese sites and the material these can contain.
However, I recall reading a post wherein Parnel was complaining about internet access problems when he was in Shanghai (?) recently. I have a friend who is currently there for a month and we have had no problems exchanging emails, and he claims he's had not problems keeping up with Canadian news by accessing the G&M's site. Last night I sent him a weblink to a blog site. He sent back a message saying he could not access the site, and when I click on the link in the email, I have no problem.
Could it be the Chinese government filters out access to any website with "blog" in?
What problems have others had using the web when visiting China? Is Shanghai better than Beijing? [I don't count Hong Kong as part of China in this regard.]
