What's amazing is that they didn't decide to sit next to eachother in the row behind the exit-row. They may have a fairly valid excuse for wanting to swap seats (i.e. wanting to sit together), but their execution of the change was flawed.

I'm sure the fat chap in the row behind would have been pleased to sit on the exit row, but doubt that the prospect of sitting with his ***** would have made the other chap in your row move to a non-exit seat.
