I expected my quick double-transcon to be very painful, but it was cake: you sleep on the redeye and part of the return, and the rest of the time you can watch movies or (in my case) work on the laptop. I have about 12 hours of battery power on my laptop (if wireless is turned off and harddisk/dvd isn't continually running).
I could definitely do two r/t's back-to-back, but it's definitely not the most effective cost-per-mile for the fare (it
is effective time-per-mile because you're flying almost constantly... and if time is more valuable than money then... you should just fly in paid F!

Just out of curiosity, will the system let you check in on-line both outbound segments, i.e. lax -> bos? I think it's smart enough to not let you check in for the return?
Online EasyCheckIn has no problem checking in both outbound and returning segments; any flight that departs between 1 and 24 hrs from the time you're online.
In my case, I was able to check in for both SFO-BOS and BOS-ORD-SFO online.
