Hey, thanks for the plug!

The concensus of opinion on this board seems to be that GB is generally better than mainline and I think my own experience probably bears that out. As always, an awful lot comes down to the crew on the day, but of the few flights I've had with GB in recent years, a high proportion of them have been really top-notch. There are some differences of detail, like decent champers served out of a full-size bottle. The vile Monopole hasn't infected GB yet!

As for Malta, I've been surprised to read some so-so reviews of it on FT. Personally, I like it a lot. The three trips in my destination report are all worth doing and if I had the time over, I'd do the same three again.

Don't be afraid to ride the local buses. They're dirt cheap and can be fun, especially if you forego the newer ones in favour of the old Bedford bangers with crash gearboxes.

Also bear in mind that the Maltese currency is one of only two I can think of - the other being Cyprus - that is 'heavier' than the pound, i.e. MTL 1 is worth more than GBP 1. We are so conditioned to thinking the other way around that it's worth keeping this in mind, or you may end up spending a lot more than you think you are!
