I believe if they find out, and they will if you want to check your luggage through, on two separate tickets on the same airline, they will cancel the rest of your ticket. The best, and as far as I know, the only way to do this is to buy 2 tickets on 2 airlines.

Or you can misspell your name on the shorter ticket slightly (Peeter vs Peter) do not enter your AAdvantage number and then mail in the boarding passes later and explain your name was misspelled by accident...
Not true. As long as the OP is not trying to avoid any minimum or Saturday stay requirements, nesting is perfectly "legal".
