Take it or Leave it Attitude at the Burj Al Arab
I am travelling from the Maldives to the Seychelles in Emirates in business class. I arrive around midnight and leave the next night around the same time. I've been wanting to try the Burj Al Arab Hotel and they won't bend with their checkin/checkout policy and want me to pay for two days for a 22 hours period.
I need to checkin a hotel in Dubai at midnight and check out at 2200 the following day....22 hours total.
I thought that many countries who frequently have midnight arrival and departure times offer a 24hour accommodation rate. This happened before at the Raffles in Singapore if I booked with airport transfers. Am I being unreasonable? I cancelled the Burj Al Arab. My "Panoramic Suite" would have cost around $3000 for 22 hours plus meals, taxes, and transfers ---they are requiring me to pay for two days.
Does anyone know of a five-star property in Dubai that would accommodate a "24hr" rate? I also need a place for a 12 hours layover on my return. I was hoping that as a good gesture the Burj would charge me two days and combine my visits but I suppose that is beyond the relm of their limited customer service.
After reading the comments on this board about Emirates Airlines I'm disappointed that I didn't make my connections through DOHA and book Qatar Airways. First Class isn't offered on my flights and Emirates biz class seems pretty ordinary according to most members here. Qatar Airways has no business class availability now so I'm stuck.
Any advice would be appreciated. The Burj al Arab may be considered a "six-star" hotel but their attitude leaves allot to be desired.
